Ghana may soon be slapped with visa restrictions to the United States, a statement from the US Embassy has warned. According to the statement, Ghana has failed to comply with international obligations regarding the issuance of travel documents.

The statement indicated that, the US will be forced to begin implementing the visa restrictions in accordance with U.S. law as a responsibility owed to the American people.

The statement said the Government of Ghana became a signatory to the Convention on International Civil Aviation which obliges Ghana through its Embassy in Washington, D.C., and its Consulate General in New York to interview deportees on a regular basis and issue the necessary travel documents.


NPP lied their way into power - Prof. Gyampo

A political science lecturer at the University of Ghana, Professor Ransford Yaw Gyampo has taken a swipe at the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for ‘’lying’’ their way into power.

In an article, the senior lecturer said, ‘’They would continue to take us for a ride because they know we are overly partisan. They know that we always wear partisan lenses that blindfold us in looking at issues objectively. They know that we will still support them even if they lie to us”.


EC latest scandal 'disgusting, unfortunate' - Boateng Gyan

A former national organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Boateng Gyan has described the allegations against the Electoral Commissioner and her response to these allegations as disgusting.

He has predicted doom for the country if the issue is not handled properly.

He opined, it will get to a point where people will no longer have trust in our independent institutions because of the undue interference by some faceless people.

He made reference to the judicial scandal which hit the nation and saw some judges sacked after they were caught on tape accepting bribe to subdue justice.

The judiciary he said was ridiculed following Anas' expose and that tag is still on them despite reforms done adding, ''we have not forgotten about the judicial scandal and yet another scandal has hit the election body. This is serious.


Mobile Money fraud cases increases in Ghana

Some Ghanaians on Wednesday recounted their experience with mobile money fraudsters who have invaded the mobile money services duping people.

Speaking to Kwame Tutu on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, the victims who have suffered from these scammers with monies ranging from GHC200-GHC3,500 described their experience as unfortunate.

According to them, the scammers call to inform them that they mistakenly sent money into mobile money wallet and so they should resend it back to them. The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications, in April this year said, mobile money operators in Ghana namely, MTN Mobile Money, TigoCash, Airtel Money and Vodafone Cash have recorded 388 money fraud cases in 2016 as against 278 in 2015.

Although the mobile money operators did not reveal the amount of money made away by the fraudsters, majority of these cases have been reported to the police for further investigations and closure.


Collapsed galamsey pit owners declared wanted by police

The owners of the galamsey pit which reportedly led to the death of some 14 galamseyers in Prestea Nsuta have been declared wanted by the police.

Some 17 others are suspected to be trapped in the pit which collapsed yesterday [Monday].

Efforts are underway to retrieve the bodies trapped in the pit.

The District Commander, Superintendent Atsu Dzineku said the Police had began investigations into the incident.

According to him, those “found culpable will be dealt with.” “… We have one Kojo Baah who is the owner of one of the pits. They have formed a joint association carrying that operation in the area. We are looking for them.They are on the wanted list. My divisional Commander was here and some elders also came. We have asked that they produce them for interrogation”.


We donated GHC1,000 at Woyome's late mother's burial - Pius Hadzide

The Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, Pius Hadzide has disputed claims by Agbesi Nutsu, he led a delegation on behalf of government to donate to businessman Alfred Woyome when he lost his mother.

The leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), alleged that Alfred Agbesi Woyome was given an amount of GHC 35,000 by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, when he lost his mother.

“When Woyome’s mother died, NPP donated an amount of GHC 20,000 to Woyome at the funeral, Nana Addo also gave an amount of GHC 15,000 to him as well…as if that was not enough, four ministers were dispatched to the funeral…” “The NPP are now dumb on the Woyome cash and I want to know why…I ask myself why the seeming loud silence…I ask if the President is for and still stands for Woyome accounting for the money he took…I simply think the donation at the funeral mean NPP won’t chase him for the money…,” he said.


God is punishing lawyer Sosu for cheating me - Francis Agyare

Francis Agyare ,the client of Human Rights Lawyer, Francis Xavier Sosu who reported him to the General Legal Council leading to his three years ban says God is punishing him [Sosu] for reaping him-off for years.

He granted an interview to Accra based Joy Fm where he made some allegations.

According to Francis Agyare, he appealed and got out of prison without the help of lawyer Sosu, adding, 'Sosu didn’t help me to get out of prison. He didn’t do anything.'

He further indicated that lawyer Sosu promised to give him GHc150 a month so when the compensation comes through, he will deduct it.

He also alleged that a company from Australia wanted to produce a documentary on his case but lawyer Sosu charged the company without his consent. ‘’Sosu cheated me and told me lies.''What is happening to him is a payment from God. This is not my fault.’’ he fumed


Police officer knock down former national welterweight boxing champion; needs GHC 14,000 for surgery

The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has disclosed that, the former national welterweight champion Isaac Aryee who was allegedly knocked down whilst driving a motorbike by a car driven by one officer Aikins of the Mamprobi Police on Wednesday afternoon on the Mortuary Road in Accra, needs GH?14,000 to undergo surgery on a broken neck.

According to a statement issued by the spokesperson of the GBA, Naa Darkuah Dodoo, Aryee should have undergone surgery days ago but he has been unable to raise the funds needed to undergo the procedure.

"Former national welterweight champion, Isaac Aryee urgently needs GH?14,000 for the surgery. They have to transfer him to the surgical ward," the statement said.

The boxer according some eyewitnesses who spoke to Rainbow Radio Sports, the officer drove away without attending to the injured boxer who was in critical condition until Aryee was saved by a good samaritan who rushed him to the Korlu-Bu Teaching Hospital.


Joyce Blessing is an ingrate - Songwriter

Songwriter and composer Ernest Kwaku Sarfo has accused Joyce Blessing of being an ingrate.

Speaking on Rainbow Radio’s GH Entertainment, Mr. Sarfo burst out that the ‘Unbreakable’ hit maker has failed to appreciate him for his contributions towards her successful career.

Ernest Kwaku Sarfo disclosed that he wrote ‘Monko Mokye’, 'Kantamanto Nyame' and hit tracks for the musician.

Joyce Blessing who was in the studios together with the composer revealed that, Mr. Sarfo wrote only the chorus for her and she did the other arrangements herself.

Speaking to Agyemang Prempeh, the composer explained that, he wrote the chorus and verse for the artiste. Feeling bitter, he expressed disappointment in Joyce Blessing for failing to give him the due acknowledgement for his hard work.

‘I feel so bitter and disappointed in Joyce Blessing and her husband for being ungrateful.’


Kwahu is underdeveloped because of failed leadership-Chief

Barima Kwame Asante Beyeani II, Chief of Atibie-Kwahu and Gyaasehene of Kwahu Traditional Area have slammed successive governments for failing to develop Kwahu.

Speaking in an interview with Nyankonton Mu Nsem’s Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi, the Senior Auditor of Ghana Cocoa Board said Kwahu in the Eastern Region has lacked behind because politicians who won power failed to develop the area.

Ministers, MPs and other government appointees from the area only focus on their selfish desires at the detriment of the entire Kwahu Township, he decried.

He said selfishness, greed and personal gains are the traits of appointees who have been appointed by successive governments a situation he lamented, has delayed the development of the area. Barima Kwame Asante Beyeani II said they have educated men and women in the Township yet, they are underdeveloped.
